Tempolimit HowTo

Introduction

The app Tempolimit assists you in maintaining a certain maximum speed – may it be a given speed limit or a speed that enables your car to use its fuel at its best efficiency.
Due to the relatively weak computing power of a mobile phone there is no way to recognize traffics signs automatically, so that you have to watch for signs yourself and adjust the app accordingly.

Adjusting the app while driving

Adjusting via Dialog

Just click on your screen to change to a view with a few buttons:

• Faster raises the given speed limit by 10 units.
• Slower lowers the given speed limit by 10 units.
• Stop monitoring resets the app back to 0. No more warnings are issued.
• Cancel closes the dialog without saving.
• Adjust activates the new setting.

Adjusting via gestures

If you long-click on the screen (more than a second) the currently driven speed becomes your new speed limit.

If you use your finger to draw the letter V upside down on your screen, the speed setting gets raised, draw a V and and it gets lowered

By swiping your finger from left to right and then from right to left without lifting your finger you can enable HUD mode.

HUD Mode

When in HUD mode the display is mirrored. You can put your phone on your dashboard so that the screen faces upward and you can see the mirrored image in your windscreen. This may not work on all cars. Please make sure that your phone is safely attached to your dashboard – otherwise it may get damaged or hurt you during extreme driving maneuvers.

Troubleshooting

No voice output

Make sure that your device has TextToSpeech installed. If not you can get it from Android Market. We recommend SVOX Classic for best results.

No audio

Make sure that your settings for media volume are loud enough. Android devices use different volume settings for ringtones and media playback.

Speed is laggy / wrong / unusable

The accuracy of speed measuring is not determined by the app. It can vary depending on your device, the number of satellites your receiver can “see”, the surroundings, landscape and many more.
